Suzannah Moorman: Bio

Suzannah Moorman, soprano, has given numerous recitals and sacred concerts throughout her 24-year career, singing in Texas, the Midwest and Southern U.S., as well as in England and The Republic of Singapore.

In 2008 she sang her New York Debut at Carnegie Hall as soloist in "Wedding Mass" by American Composer Timothy Michael Powell.

For the 2008-2009 school year Suzannah has served as Interim Director of Choral and Vocal Studies at Lee College in Baytown, TX. While at this post she had the honor of conducting the Baytown Symphony Orchestra and in being the first choral conductor in the new Performing Arts Center at Lee College.

In 2006 and 2004 she was a finalist for the New York based Lotte Lehmann Foundation's Art song competition, "Cybersing," and was the featured singer and guest lecturer in 2004 for the "Church Music Encounter" sponsored by the Methodist School of Music in Singapore.

Suzannah has appeared as guest soloist with Baytown Symphony Orchestra, San Jacinto College Choral, Sons of Orpheaus, and Opera Rediviva, as well as the grand opening gala for Opera in the Heights, Houston.

She has been featured on radio and television programs, including "The Front Row with Dean Dalton" on Houston Public Radio and "Time that Makes the Difference," a televised production of The United Methodist Hour, sponsored by the United Methodist Church in Mississippi. Suzannah has sung in worship at the Mississippi and Texas Annual Conferences of the United Methodist Church and has sung for numerous Methodist Churches in the U.S. and abroad.

Suzannah recorded and produced 3 sacred CDs of her own: Behold Him (2001), Great Wesley Hymns (2003), and Words of Life (2003) and is featured on the CD "On Strings of the Rain" by composer Roger Keele.

As conductor, Suzannah has directed children, youth and adult choirs throughout her musical career, having served at Lancaster First Christian, Duncanville First Christian, Bellaire United Methodist, The Foundry United Methodist, and Cornerstone United Methodist Churches, all in Texas. Her formal conducting training began at Millsaps College with Dr. William P. Carroll, now editor of Hinshaw Music Publishers.

Suzannah holds Master of Music and Master of Sacred Music degrees from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Voice and in Church Music from Millsaps College.
